Meet Rebecca McKinney

Meet Rebecca McKinney
Marketing Manager

What is your background in moving?

I’m an industry rookie. I just started my career, but have already learned a great deal in a short amount of time. The first couple of weeks here, along with my first personal move, has taught me a lot of the basics. I look forward to furthering my knowledge on the job, and then using my personal experiences as a way to help others through the moving process.

What is your area of expertise?

As the marketing coordinator, I help Paige, with marketing initiatives. I assist with networking on social media profiles and spend time each day researching new trends and developments in social media and moving – and then we share information, tips, tricks and stories with anyone who is currently moving, has moved and/ or is considering a move.

I’ve also had a lot of experience with communication in general. Part of my job is to deliver information to customers in a manner that they will want and understand it. Moving is stressful enough without having to decipher terminology or phrases that don’t make sense to you. It is important to relate to customers – and I pride myself on my ability to do so through our online efforts.

What do you like most about working in the moving industry?

So far, I like the people. Everybody that I have met here brings something unique and special to the table – and each person has been more than willing to help me find my niche here. Similarly, every customer is different and has different needs. It is both challenging and fun to find information and tools to cater to all different kinds of people.

If you could give one tip to a customer, what would it be?

Ask all of your questions. I hate that “what if” feeling that I get when I hold back on asking more questions. But this is your move, your things and your life. Get the answers to any questions you may have so you can feel completely comfortable and relaxed about the process. If you know exactly who, what, where, when, why, how and anything else you can imagine about the move, you’ll feel more confident and calm about it.

The answer to this question changes pretty often for me. There are so many places I want to experience. Right now, I’d like to move to Savannah, Georgia. I love the historical feel, the relaxed atmosphere, the artistic surroundings and the simple beauty of it. Maybe I have a thing for Spanish moss canopies hanging over the streets. I’ve been to Savannah a couple of times and both times I’ve made a personal vow to spend some portion of my life living there.
