Five Reasons to Move to New Jersey

5 Reasons to Move To New JerseyWe recently published a post that went over the 2014 National Movers Study conducted by United Van Lines that taught us that 65 percent of moves originated in New Jersey were outbound moves. While the study proves that many people chose to move to a more affordable housing market and stable economy, it also told us that 25 percent of those who moved out of New Jersey did so because of their retirement, so there are a few different factors at play here. Regardless of the outbound moving trend that New Jersey (and much of the northeast in general) has seen over the past few years, there are still tons of reasons why moving IN to New Jersey is a great idea!

The Best Time of Year for Renters to Move into New York City

The Best Time of Year for Renters to Move into New York CityMore often than not, when people move, they are moving because of something; a new job, a relationship, or any major life change. Because of this, the time of year in which we move is often set. There are, however, cases in which the timeline is flexible. People move all the time for reasons that allow them to decide exactly when they are ready to go. So, if you are one of the lucky ones who can control your timing, you should know the optimal time to move to your destination. For example, if you are planning a move into a big city, like New York City, it makes a lot of sense to time it appropriately so that it is easier on you, your family and, potentially, your NY movers. So when is the best time of year to move into New York City?

How to Find Reliable Movers in New Jersey

Annual Spring Cleaning TipsMarch comes in like a lion and out like a lamb, right? Regardless of the weather, the official first day of spring is Friday, March 20 this year. Since it really is right around the corner, it’s time to at least start thinking about some spring cleaning. In fact, I just spent all of this past weekend cleaning, organizing, and sorting through everything in my apartment. I was blown away by how much excess I have collected even though I’ve moved TWICE in the past year, but that’s a story for another day. I found (thank you Pinterest) and tested all of the following spring cleaning tips so that I would be 100 percent confident in passing them along to all of you.

Moving and Downsizing

De-cluttering your home for movingMy parents are starting to think about and plan their retirement. The plan includes a move and a new house. They are excited to start this next chapter in their lives and I am thrilled for them. I grew up in my parents’ home, a farmhouse about an hour north of Manhattan. The house sits on 2 acres of land on a small lake and includes a small cottage that my parents rent out to other locals. The property includes the house itself, the cottage, a one car garage, and a barn that was converted into my father’s workshop downstairs and my brother and my playroom upstairs. Now that my brother and I are both grown and living on our own, the house is too big for our mom and dad.
