There’s a lot going on at Holman that I am excited about, and hope you will be too. Most notably, since you are reading this post, we are thrilled to have launched this new blog! We hope to provide our readers with helpful advice that spans the entire moving process – from thinking about moving, to finally settling into your new home.
We also plan to share some of good things we are doing with Move for Hunger– and how you can help. Interested? Read more to learn about our latest campaign and how you can help us move out hunger.
Those of you who do know us, know that we are proudly committed to Move for Hunger, a non-profit organization that works with moving companies across the country to pick up unwanted, unopened food from those who are relocating and deliver it to local food banks across the country. We were honored to be the first mover in Delaware, and among the first movers in New Jersey, to join the program. To date, we have dropped more than 500 pounds of food to our food banks – the Food Bank of Delaware in New Castle, DE and the Center for Food Action in Englewood, New Jersey.
To revitalize the program this past holiday season, we ran a social media campaign to promote Move for Hunger and collect more donations. That campaign resulted in 400 pounds of food collected in only two months, which fed hundreds of people in our local communities.
Now that the busy moving season is upon us, we want to take it to the next level. That’s why we are running a similar campaign from May 1st – September 1st and we hope you will help us out. Here’s what you can do:
- Donate. If you are moving, please give your unwanted, unused non-perishable items to your Holman Moving driver. We will handle the rest!
- Like. Like our Facebook page! Holman Moving Systems will donate one can to the collection every time we get a new fan.
- Post. Head to our Facebook wall and tell us where you are moving. Holman Moving Systems will donate three cans of food for every new post.
My personal goal is to collect 1,000 pounds of food this busy season. We CAN make a difference if we work together. Let’s move out hunger! Who’s with me?
