We are honored and excited to fill you all on in what we did this past weekend! Al Ponchak, his nephew Colin, and myself spent this past Saturday helping out the Highway Word of Faith Family Worship Center give out full Thanksgiving dinner baskets to 247 families!
Last Friday, November 22, I had my first experience in one of our moving trucks (a fun story on its own) when we drove down the the Food Bank of Delaware and picked up a truck load of turkeys and sides to be distributed the next morning from 10 AM until 2 PM. We were happy to partner with Highway Word of Faith & HOPE Outreach and the Food Bank of Delaware to hand out these Thanksgiving baskets. Families pre-registered to receive the baskets with the church and were given a ticket at the time of pick-up.
“Everyone deserves to enjoy a Thanksgiving Dinner,” said Al Ponchak, our Director of Operations,“We work to fight hunger all year long through the Move for Hunger initiative, so when we were asked to pick up and deliver these baskets for Thanksgiving we jumped at the chance to help.
We at Holman Moving Systems were just one of several organizations donating their time and assistance along with The Women’s Council, The Urban League of Philadelphia, The Delaware Caddy Club, DAASHOF, Jack & Jill Foundation and the Heart to Hands Foundation.
The weather on Saturday, while chilly, was perfect for the event. The sun was shining all day and everyone was just as thrilled to be involved as we were. With the hard work and organization put in by the Highway Word of Faith members, the event ran smoothly. Some of the church members even took the initiative to the streets and personally delivered baskets to families unable to come pick one up.
We hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday!
